The Green Menagerie is back! Matt Green’s eclectic 78-card tarot deck has returned to Kickstarter for a new edition, bringing together a collection of artwork that feels like many different decks living inside one.

One Tarot Deck, Many Different Worlds
The idea behind the Green Menagerie came from watching tarot readers combine cards from several decks in a single reading. Matt loved the contrast: different styles of artwork could sit beside one another and create something unexpected.
He brought that experience into one complete tarot deck. Instead of giving every card the same appearance, he approached the cards as individual pieces with their own visual identities.
Some feel romantic or vintage. Others are dark, theatrical, surreal, or bright and graphic. Together, they create the Menagerie—a deliberately varied collection connected by the familiar structure of tarot.
A Return for an Independent Tarot Project
The original Green Menagerie Tarot launched on Kickstarter in 2023, with 385 backers pledging $16,418 to help bring the first physical edition to life.
This new campaign is an opportunity to bring the deck back while preserving the contrasts that made it distinctive. For longtime supporters, it is a return to a familiar collection. For anyone discovering Matt’s work for the first time, it is an invitation to explore all 78 cards.
A New Look for the Box
The new box design brings together the Green Menagerie’s geometric motifs and artwork from The Fool. Its black, green, and warm gold palette gives the packaging a strong connection to the cards inside.
The campaign also includes stretch goals for a magnetic flip-top box and a physical Green Menagerie guidebook. These are potential upgrades that depend on reaching their funding milestones; the physical guidebook is not included in the base campaign unless its stretch goal is unlocked.

The campaign also offers backers a redeemable code for the Green Menagerie deck in the Tarot Menagerie app. A digital version lets you explore the cards and enjoy quick readings when your physical deck is at home.
The app includes Card of the Day and a “View it in another deck” feature, which lets you compare the same tarot card across different deck styles. That feels especially fitting for a deck built around the joy of seeing familiar archetypes through different artwork.
